Little Shop of Horrors
Little Shop of Horrors is a great underdog musical. It’s non-tradional leading characters resonate with the audience. The idea of escaping one’s circumstances is a theme that everybody can relate to at some point or another. It is a really fun show disguised as a dark tragedy, that pleases audiences with its alien star.
Design Concept: Brick and Gritty- I tried to create an entire world for the shop to exist in, so that felt like it could be a tiny part of a larger city. We had massive apartment buildings flanking the stage and the fire escapes behind to help create this effect. We rented our Audrey 2 puppets, but if I ever do it again, I would like to try and build them.
