The 39 Steps
The hardest part of directing The 39 Steps was honoring its film noir origins and recreating its many film locations on our small stage. I used a scrim as a shadow wall to create many of the noir effects, staying true to as many of the famous film scenes as possible, the like the bridge jumping and airplane chase. The play has cast of four, but I expanded all the small roles that normally would be shared by three actors to create a cast of forty two
