2Be?
Inspired by the famous line from Hamlet and observing the emotional hell my teenage students go through I created 2Be?. It is the journey of a young girl through a her semi-psychedelic subconscious and the lands of emotional dominance. An almost modern Alice though the Looking Glass, it relied heavily on music and color to transport its audience through their own emotions. The play begins in pitch dark, with the actors moving throughout the seats creating a sensory experience for the audience. This was a complete ensemble cast, where actors played mulitple parts during each emotion, transforming with the help of fabric and subtle nuance.
Design Concept: We built this show to go to Scotland and be part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, so the set, props, costumes and other necessities had to fit into two suitcases and one laptop. The show was built mainly with fabric as set and costume, transitioning the actors through each new land.
